In the interests of sustainable development, priority will be given to measures to improve energy efficiency, promote the production and use of renewable energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Many factors can influence the use of renewable energy sources and the level of greenhouse gas emissions, such as the level of economic development, energy dependency and urbanisation, the level of human capital and hence the environmental awareness of economic actors, or even the nature of public involvement. The aim of the research is to investigate what macroeconomic factors may influence the use of renewable energy sources, what relationship can be identified between energy use, carbon emissions and macroeconomic factors, and what social and economic impact can be identified from the use of renewable energy.
